| Another photo from Otakon 2001 I like this one particularly because it shows more definition of the dress -- all that white tends to blend together! | |

SOURCE Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (manga) DATE FINISHED February, 2001 CON DEBUT Katsucon 7 (2001) CONSTRUCTION COMMENTS This was certainly a project! I actually started this one in 1998 after I saw her in the fifth art book. Unfortunately, other costumes became more of a priority. I've seen a couple of different versions of the dress on other cosplayers. To me, it didn't look like a standard senshi fuku. It looked more like an actual dress! The pictures in the manga and the art book showed no indication of a separate skirt. There is no line going around the hips, like the senshi fuku. I altered a princess seamed dress to get the front panel to lay flat. The tailoring took a while. I made the dress 3 times in muslin just to make sure my adjustments were truly correct, and not some fluke in either my pinning or sewing! I had started on the accessories while I looked for the right fabric for the dress. I needed pure white fabric that was dense enough not to be sheer! For the accessories, I used the same brass (for all the gold chaos stars) I use for my senshi tiaras, plus pearls and real feathers. It was a lot of brass polish, cement/adhesive, and jewelry wire to keep everything together and looking good. The wig is a slightly improved "Moon Lady" costume wig. For the heart shaped odangos, I carved styrofoam for a base and then wrapped some of the hair around them. The staff is made of dowels and specially treated styrofoam balls, with polished tin for the chaos star on the top. SPECIAL NOTES -
